Keep your 75/zts for as long as you can
Hi guys, Long time no speak.I currently dont have a 75 and the way things are going may not for some time. I love the 75s without a doubt in my eyes my favourite modern car ( along with the s type jag). I currently drive not something from the mg rover stable but something from the vauxhall stable. Its a 2003 53 plate vauxhall astra 1.6 auto with onlt 54000 miles on the clock.
Now to me its an ok car. Its easy to drive, good on fuel etc etc. Just what i need to get me to work everyday. Its no Rover though. My dad took it on the test run and he said its a nice little car but it aint no rover. Rovers feel like quality motors and they look like somebody cared about what they were doing. My dads old 99 800 vitesse has door handles on the inside that are leather trimmed. Mine has shiny hard pastic. So for anybody thinking of changing to something else. Think long and hard then keep yours. Regards from a very jealous non 75 owner. PS: Please keep up the good work with this club without doubt the best forum/club on the net. |

Hello Thomas.Nice to see you dropping in.Good advice about keeping the Rovers on the road.I have mine 2.5 years and with the work I've done on it it's a better car than when I bought it.I intend to keep it for as long as possible.

If they remain economically viable to repair and maintain there is no reason not to hold onto them .

I tried a few small garages and they told me they had no experience of Rovers and would be AFRAID to work on them.

Aye that's a tidy Astra. Very hard to tell from the picture but aye probably lot's of good mile's left in it. Myself i like Vauxhall's overall not bad motor's. Hope you get a 75 soon and i think that 75's will be on the road for many year's to come. And in my personal view i think that they are a classic car in the makeing no question.

Astra's not a bad car, rides and handles well , safe, cheap to run, soaks up bumps quite well. I would say, runs the Ford Focus very close for best hatch at that time and quite reliable to boot. But incredibly boring inside, but you cant compare the two cars. There are reasons that I understand for choosing this, namely to reduce the motoring costs and not waiting for something wrong to crop up. Good luck and hope the Astra does what it says on the tin. Not bad cars overall.
