Default Can't drop back seat down

Yep tried to drop down the back seat but it won't budge as the previous owner had pushed the release buttons down do far they have jammed. I have looked into the back of the seat from inside of the boot, but as there is a large metal plate going across, I can't figure out how I can get to the locking mechanism to free the catches off
