A Bizarre Water Leak
Hi Fellow 75'ers,
After my car had stood out in heavy rain last week, I found a veritable lake of water uin the driver's footwell - but most bizarrely, all the carpetting above the "waterline" was bone dry! Carefull examination did ot reveal any evidence the rain water had come in from around and above the underside of the dash and pedal area, and there is no heater/coolant leak etc. Any ideas chaps, or where I can buy swim wear suitable for an O.A.P? |

It may be a long shot, but check the cable for the bonnet release. I had a slight leak from there earlier this year.

Coming from the boot? My carpets were soaking wet, looked in my boot and I was carrying a swimming pool around with me. Turned out to be leaking rear light seals both sides.

"Got it in one"
You got it in one "Artic"!
The pipe from the offside sunroof drain had become detached from there it joins the outlet through the bulkhead. Anyone want to buy a 50kg carpet full of water?? |

You're not alone.
If you're taking out the carpet you might consider doing the handbrake & a bit of extra soundproofing while your at it. Personally I think they should have tiled the floor with a good soak away under the seat. Mine was the rear light seals. What a palava. Must say I've had other cars with the same problem. A ford KA that stunk to high heaven with damp & a Picasso like wise. Back in the day a Morris 1800 that literally dropped a bucket in one go on my feet after I set the heater to cabin from windscreen in a downpour in Stoke. Literally had to stop and buy new socks.
