Air filter

I plan to change this on my R75CDT. Any advice would be welcome. Pictures would be useful if someone could guide me to their location
Just bought air filter off e bay for 9.95 plus 3.95 p&p. Looking through some old receipts I paid £27 +VAT in November 2006 - this is when it was last changed too! MY PCV filter and EGR + a new set of injectors have just been completed, so to give an all round new feel best to to change this. I checked when this was last replaced - if I'm correct the air filter has not been changed for 27000 miles. Please advice symptoms of not changing a dirty air filter. When I get to it I will take a photo and post on here.
