Default 51 plate diesel fuel

hi all just bought a 51 plate diesel 75 its a non runner had a new under bonnet pump on it but its not a very constant flow of diesel lots of air in it going to look into it tomorrow but thought i would ask on here if any one else has had any problems like this ???

Maybe you have a fault with the intank pump?

How much fuel is in your tank?

at the moment i am not to sure car only got delivered yesterday so they have a in tank pump aswell as under bonnet one?

Early cars are a 2 pump system, and the classic signs of failure are when there is less then 1/4 tank of fuel and it draws air in as well.

Add at least 3 or 4 gallons and see if it runs any better.

If the in tank pump has failed, it is possible to overhaul it and fit a pugeot unit

Our cars have nearly enuff pumps for the injectors to have one each!

One in the tank, one under the bonnet, and the final HP one that feeds the rail.. Simple is best innit.. lol..

i think i might stick with my no ecu no turbo no hassle escort van lol
been looking on the how to's section and looks like a 5 series bmw diesel in tank pump would do the same job as the peugeot mod will have a look under seat tomorrow morning good job car was cheap as a non runner !!!
ah well see what tomorrow brings !

Escort van!!! Please do not remind me of that episode in my life!!

Persevere with the car, she'll be worth it Hopefully it will be a simple fix. But do keep the fuel level above half a tank - it works

put battery on charge this morning checked i had 12v going to tank pump ok but no noise from it removed sender unit god are they awkward !!! lol and how bench tested pump and no go ran a hose from inside fuel tank to under bonnet pump and waited a while for it to change note in pump goes to start vrrmmmmm away it went wahoo. need to get a pump now! there a few other slight problems with it but at least it goes. should be moting it by weekend !!!!

Glad to here you have got it going well done I have used the mkon replacement pump very good service from them and a simple replacement job
