Yep not too far from me Brian, but I'm working away in Kettering this week.

Should be back at home next week though.

My Uncle used to have a coal and lorry yard in Hollybush Lane North Camp - just round the corner from Ash Vale. Had many a good day there playing as a kid.

If you could be of some help that would be great. Whereabouts in Hampshire are you?
PS you may find Hollybush lane has changed a bit since you were a kid.
PPS Nothing to with 'Scard' was it, he was a local coal merchant.

I'm in Bordon. My uncle's coal firm was Harveys and Dawsons, and the transport side Chadwick Brothers. Yes it has changed now, all built up - it was a big site.

Will PM you at the end of the week.

Default bad news

Mike kindly came over and did a compression test which wasn't good news, zero, zilch, nothing. So it seems it will be a head off job. This is probably getting to the limit of my expertise so before I start to do anything, is there a mobile mech man near me who might be able to remove the head?

Default Bump

Due to the lack of responses, maybe I haven't made myself quite clear. I require a person versed in the removal of the cylinder head either to do or assist me. I can the take the head to an engineering company to re-fettle it. Then said person to return and re-fit head. All expenses paid, I don't expect freebies!

Off topic but can i just say this forum and its members help to other members is what keeps me in the car scene.

With rapidly changing social views and selfish people its nice to be a part of a community that still help and come forward.

Sorry im of no use im far to far away, but good luck i have read many of harry's builds and he's top notch.
He'll have your 1.8t back working again in no time!

John I offered to help Carl when I visited but am working away for the next 3 weeks.

If you can get the head off and he gets the remedial work carried out, I can help him with re-assembly when I'm back if no-one is available sooner.
