Scam warning for domain owners
They are back
The good old "Domain Registry of America" have an office in London now, and are sending out "renewal" letters that are nothing more than cleverly worded letters to get you to transfer your domain registration to them. there is a sample letter here: http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/f...scamletter.jpg get one? chuck it in the recycle bin

Yes, I keep getting a few of these - each time they go in the bin. I wonder how many people get caught out by this?

I run a few websites mainly for by friends and one charity. I have had several of these dubious domain transfer renewal emails from DROA and my friend had one and unfortunately paid them thinking it was genuine. DROA are a Canadian firm and have been fined in the US and Canada for misleading the public but here at present are free to so called business here in the UK

I only renew with my host, although they released a domain name without my approval. My fight has gone on for nearly 7 months now. On a Whois inquiry it is still registered to me with all of my details on view to the world!!!
So now the stolen domain name is pointing to another site and is no longer in my control. And I have a redundant website.. So any reminders will go straight in the shredder....lol |
