Going to view a ZS mk2 diesel any advice?
Off to look at a ZS diesel with the intention to buy.
It's black, saloon and 180 kitted. He wants £900 for it. Any advice on what to look out for when I go up to see it? P.S Think it's about 115k miles on the clock too. And has had a new clutch not too long ago.

Any of these not working will be a defective Pektron SCU unit, and if it needs a key, then the keyfob must be new with barcodes, and are quite expensive In terms of bodywork, look at the floorpan at the front to see if there is corrosion on the parts adjoining the suspension, and sill area. Suspension is fairly robust, however the compliance bushes on the rear trailing arms are prone to failure, and are a common MOT fail. The L Series diesel lump is hardy, but late model fuel pumps can be troublesome, a test drive will be essential to make sure it doesn't hiccup at 3500 RPM Finally the HHR models are a good car, a well looked after one will be a gem, but tired abused ones are best left alone Brian |

had a zs diesel the clutch pedal height is far to high for comfort but can get kit to lower it as already pointed check under front floor area for rot . and if you buy it look to get a remap makes world of difference , plus they suffer from rear bumper droop

And what exactly am i looking for when/if it 'hiccups' ? I presume the floor pan can be welded up though if needed? What is this 'Pektron SCU unit' exactly? can it be fixed or replaced ? will it cost ££££'s?

You would be looking for a slight hesitation and a possible accompanying chuff of black smoke. The Pektron units can be repaired, and are the equivalent of the BCU in the 75, only not as reliable Go and take a look, a drive and yes they are a good car, build quality suffered a bit in the late models but you will be pleasantly surprised Brian |

But sadly it only has one key. Is there somebody on here who could sort me out with a spare key for a reasonable price for subscribed members? Just like I think someone does with the ZT/75 keys?

My boss is an automotive locksmith as a second job.. I'm guessing he'd be more expensive though.
