Default A qustion for the 160BHP remap guys

I have a friend who has a 2.0 litre BMW diesel & he asked me if the 160 re-map that Marinabrian done on my 75 could be done on his car or if he would have to use a BMW guru to do it.

Cheers

I was under the impression that the M47 fitted in BMW models was 157 bhp. The unit was detuned for the use in Rover fitment.

I'm not sure what he has, he just asked me. I'll find out the model he has got.

The power output of the BMW fitted engines very much depends on the model year and which engine code is fitted

M47D20 114 or 134bhp non-common rail so no
M47TUD20 114 or 148bhp
M47TU2D20 121 or 161bhp

Would the 160 remap work on any of the above? I've not tried but there are certainly differences in the sensors, injectors, turbo and EMS on some of the cars particularly the later engine.
I'd say no it wouldn't work

Altough the base engine is the same, there are some diferences, big diferences should I say, beetwin the Rover 75 and BMW 320.

The Rover is a Common Rail. Bmw not.
The BMW got a VGT turbo, Rover not.

Electronically it seems to me, IMHO, that both engines, can't been given the same remap!

Thanks very much for the replies. I sort of guessed that there would be differences that meant the same re-map could not be done on the BMW.

Looks like he will need a BMW based re-map
