Thank you Adi, Jon, Jeff and Richard. Here is a shot of a bull Elephant standing guard ahead of the herd. He stamped his foot and I did not get any closer. Elephants use their feet to alert other Elephants of a possible danger. Its a useful deterrent when poachers are around. The vibrations from a foot stomp can be heard up to 2 miles away. After taking a few photos, I moved on and left the herd to graze peacefully. It was late afternoon and the sun had started to set. At 7pm, the light fails, when day becomes night.

That bull Elephant picture is just absolutely brilliant.
What an honour to be there and see it and be able to take the picture. Thank you for sharing it

Thanks Richard, Jeff for commenting on the bull Elephant, special.
Here is a photo of a Range Rover TDV8 which belongs to my Brother-In-Law. I took the photo on Christmas Day. How trusting it was of him to let the young ones take the beast for an early morning drive ..... Range Rover by philip Gate Keeper, on Flickr |

Good morning Fred, I am impressed by your knowledge of the Giraffe. Thank you. In Nairobi, there is “Giraffe Manor” a refuge for Reticulated Giraffes where tourists get to meet and feed the Giraffes face to face. There is also a Ye Old English House, converted into an exclusive hotel behind the refuge. Guests staying in the hotel, have their own Giraffes. It’s great for tourists and locals but I prefer to see the Giraffes out in the wild. I expect you would be the same if you visited.
