Default Knocking front end and auto box

Well after 30k miles of use in the last 16 months the car is starting to tell me to spend some time and money on it.

Front end has started feeling a bit loose and knocking on rough roads from the near side. By loose I mean steering feels like it’s pulled by the wheels as well as the knocking and the steering wheel vibrates a bit at idle too.

Also the auto box has become less eager to change and can be a bit jerky.

Still starts every morning and does 550 or more miles per tank. Everything works except the intermittent reverse sensors!!

Any suggestions where to look this weekend or what are common causes of above?

Hi Gordy,

Id go with the following:

Loose front end - suspension arm, or track rod end (Possibly the inner one)
Auto box - fluid change first, 2/4 duty solenoid if the jerking becomes harsh.
Reversing sensors - loom behind rear bumper.

hi gordy goe with what trikey says its possible it also could be a lower nsf bottom ball joint on its way out ... cant advise about auto box as mines a manual rgds mark

In order of easiness to check first, I’d go with track rod ends, for steering issues, followed by lower engine mount, for jerky changing.
If lower engine mount is ok, then I’d investigate the auto box fluid levels, and then the 2/4 brake solenoid.
