Default Well, we've all taken a wrong turning!

BA flight London to Dusseldorf . . . . landed in Edinburgh The wrong flight plan was filed so as far as the flight crew and air traffic control were aware it was going to Edinburgh. The cockup was only discovered when the plane landed and the announcement was made "Welcome to Edinburgh" . . . . passengers pointed out they were supposed to be in Dusseldorf!

BA is working with WDL Aviation who ran the flight under a leasing arrangement to find out why it filed the wrong flight plan.

Lol. The claim in the article that it had never happened before might be interpreted differently by some albeit in a jovial sort of way given that the same airframe was flown that route (London/Edinburgh) the day before.

Maybe this incident explains Ryanair, landing roughly in the same region as where you thought you were heading for.

It reminds of a story that a bus driver once told me. He lived near a bus stop on his route and he was so used to driving the route in his car pretty much on autopilot that one day the inevitable happened. He turned off before the bus stop and took the passengers on a tour of the area where his house was.

I think this Capt's Sat-Nav is out of date.

Ryanair tried to be clever by suggesting on Twitter that BA buy a copy of "Geography For Dummies", backfired after Twitter users suggested Ryanair buy a copy of "Employment Law For Dummies" after Ryanair pilots and other staff went on strike last year over working conditions . . . . err oops
