Yes Colvert I believe it is ,as most are, but I can't ascertain whether or not the ECU needs to see this earth path ,in order to start the engine or if I can diss this wire and replace it directly with one going to an ignition powered lamp on the dash.

As far as I know the oil pressure sensor information on the M47R is just used for the warning lamp, so there should be no problem doing away with it.

Many thanks for that I will give it a try. My only concern was that it might corrupt the ECU as I have read here that an oil light pre start up is indicative of all being well in the system. I have learned a great deal from this very informative forum ,but there is still a lot more to learn.

That looks a nice installation, look at all that room to get to the belts and pulleys.

Well done Sir 👍👍

I believe the oil light pre startup is just a way of confirming the canbus electronics are functional, as there is no direct link between the dash a and oil pressure switch.
The engine rpm is also sent via can bus,. But a faiiled sensor. (crank position?) Would result in no reported rpm too.
Coolant temperature could also be used for the can bus check, but this involves putting the ipk in to test mode to check values unless engine is known to be above 60 degrees so ipk needle will definitely move)
