Going Equipped?

I was having a look in my boot the other day after "she" complained that there was no room for the shopping. There was no more than usual in my Rover "being prepared" luggage area. Toolbox with various spanners, screwdrivers, mole grips, protective gloves, crow bar, top up fluids, cable ties, stanley knife etc. Then I got to thinking about the episode of Police Interceptors that I had watched the night before. I'm going equipped!!!!!

A bit of powdered tile grout and they'll throw away the key!!!

I too carry a fair bit in the back of the tourer, as there is only me.
Tool box, larger box with rope, tyre compressor, chocks, water, wiper blades and numerous other bits that I have used so rarely, I've forgotten about. Small tarp and old blanket.
The daft thing about all those extra bits, I still don't have a reflective waistcoat in there.

They are under the seat!

The best of it is, I've never had to use any of my kit! Oops! I hope that I haven't jinxed it!

Try having a V8, only place for a spare wheel is in the boot.

Prepared in case you get stuck in a road by a fallen tree?

I usually carry a saw, newspaper and matches in the remote situation I got stuck somewhere and needed to light a fire to stay warm

I like to keep a selection of tools, rope, elastic straps, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, blanket, oil, water, window wash etc in the car.

I also carried an emergency box of gewürztraminer wine in the front of my van for a couple months, just in case!!

You may laugh about the chainsaw, but one windy morning, going to Coniston, a 45mile journey, I grabbed the chainsaw as I left in suit and tie. Half way between Threlkeld and St.John's-in-the-Vale, I came across 2 joiners with a transit van, trying to saw up a tree across the road with their hand saws, - all their power tools being useless. They gave each other knowing smirks, as this smartly dressed chap stepped out of his convertible, saying " Hang on, I'll give you a hand", and so saying, opened the boot, and whipped out the chain saw. Ten minutes later, the tree, not a large one, was in 4ft. sections, and thrown into the adjacent field. It got used again that day, as a bough came off a tree near the school, preventing buses getting down the lane to pick up the kids.
