CDT = Common rail Diesel Turbo or something like that.

OK. So after much searching and deliberation I have come to the conclusion that I want a diesel, connie preferably se spec, with wooden steering wheel and light coloured leather.
cars with this spec seem to be few and far between. Is it practicable to get a car with darker leather and obtain the correct colour seats etc from scrappy. will it be just the seats to change or a multitude of other bits, door cards etc.
Sorry to be a pain but I need to understand all this before travelling to look at cars in the flesh so to speak.
thanks again,
Roy

You have to change seats, door cards, carpet, roof headlining and a lot of plastic trim if you want to change colour.

I have done this job a few times and it takes at least a full day to complete.

All the bits mentioned in the above post plus the engine for one that is better suited to a car that is going to cover low miles.

A V6 would be ideal!

CDTI -

C - Common Rail (something to do with the fuel delivery system)
D - Diesel
T - Turbo
I - Intercooler (don't ask, I have no idea )

HI MSS, The 2.5 V6 maintenance is the biggest worry for me, particularly the timing belts every 6 years at a cost of at least £500, when the cars value wont be a great deal more, If I can find one that has recently had new belts that would be fine, but why would an owner have these jobs done and then sell the car, I suppose if I can find one at a reasonable price, and have the jobs done I should be o.k.
So, something else to ponder over.
thanks again,
Roy

Roy - my post was only meant to be a lighthearted tongue in cheek comment.

I would though say that realistically if I was in your shoes the belts would only be done once and then by the time that car is five years older from now it would be driven into the ground whilst taking a chance on the belts which in all probability would outlast the car. This is what I did with my Omega at 15 years old and it will be 20 years old in September. If it goes pop after that due to belt breakage I will not be heart broken.

hi again MSS, maybe tongue in cheek but probably correct, why worry too much about the belts on a sub £1500 car. maybe I will look for a nice v6
