i had my first experience of a Tesla electric car few days ago whilst in the Netherlands - it was a taxi! We had to get from Amsterdam to rotterdam to meet a ship and I was very impressed with the comfort of the car, the gull wing doors took some getting used to.
But, it was so heavily electronic everything, every time a car went passed, a radar bleeped and the dash showed a ghost image of the traffic around, mas well as other strange wavy lines coming and going. The console display was massive, larger than A3 paper size and it just didnt seem right, too much technology and made my 75 look positively fossilized!!
I wont be changing cars anytime soon!!

My Kuga has self park fitted, only used it once but have to say it felt rather strange watching the car steer itself! My daughter wasn't impressed, I chose to try it out by her car!!!!

All these so-called technological advances are basically from the same plot.

Market maximums get reached and changes are needed to stimulate flagging enthusiasm. So many cars are sold because of the need to have the latest model that has to have 'added value' for the competitive 'one-upmanship' mentality.

80% of 4x4s get no closer to off road than Tescos car park yet they command a huge added cost merely because it has that redundant capability.

When you have billions tied up in development and manufacture and millions invested by gambling bankers (I think I've spelled that correctly) in your progress the ingenuity lies primarily in your marketing of improved gadgets. Now, even the driver is being engineered out.

Yes. Great all this new ‘technocraft’, if it works. Watched a test on tv last week, it was a Mercedes with accident avoidance, it brakes when it detects something in front of it. Oh no it didn’t, three times. Three possible dead people.

I know what you mean Bob, it just doesn't feel right.

I feel the same when many of these new cars have no physical key, simply placing key on dashboard or in pocket freaks me out, having no key in ignition barrel is weird.

Surely that is wrong - at least 80% of them are always on pavements (where they shouldn't be) when they are parked?

My main beef with EV cars is that I can't keep the speed constant. It's either speeding up or slowing down. Not like ours where you can pretty much rest your foot on the 'cellerator and not budge off 50, 60 70 etc.
