Question Rover 75=Twilight Zone

I have previously posted the problem I had with the drivers door mirror switches/wing mirror switch not working. Unable to up/down windows and fold wing mirrors, although the front passenger window got a mind of its own and will work on its own switch(other 3 would not), apart from that nothing else electrical playing up. Took little one to school this morning, got back home, came in for coffee, then went to car to go shopping..... car totally dead no power,no ignition.....nothing...... I thought FFS what now! So popped bonnet checked battery terminals and the positive was as loose as my missus, tightened up the terminal, checked the earth...that took 2-3 turns.... turned ignition and she started sweet as a nut.... now here's the thing.... window switches and wing mirror switches now working !!!! they even light up with ignition on like they should.... that's got me wondering, just a loose terminal and my door switches were u/s....... never ceases to amaze me these Rovers. But I'm still happy with my baby

Battery reset won't help the mileage reading all the nines, neither will a T4. From what I've read some mileage correction specialists might be able to help, failing that its a replacement IPK which will, obviously, need coding to the car.

Yep, Steve is correct, a replacement ipk is called for if you have the 999999 issue.

I had the 9's problem, caused by a garage which it seems introduced an electrical spike when working on it. Having made many enquiries to see if I could fix it, I decided not to when I found that it doesn't affect the result of the all important MOT. The testers only ever recorded the mileage as all the 9's. There are many cars out there with the same problem and if you yourself are not bothered by that display, why pay out?

I had the dreaded "all the nines" problem on my V6 about eighteen months ago and Klarzy fixed it for me in minutes without replacing the ipk. Seem to remember it was the e-prom chip causing the problem?

As mentioned, its an electrical spike zaps the eeprom causing the full house of 9s. Replacing the ipk or eeprom (lot of intricate soldering) is the only solution.
