Its not just the oil type or make up, but the ACEA oil rating. 190 especially needs a higher rated oil.
For all 2.0 and 2.5 none 190 engine, and 10/40 with ACEA A2:96 and use a 10W/40 oil meeting specification ACEA A3 for a 190.

I have one on 0W 40 and one on 5W 40 both synthetic; I like the idea of the lower 'W' rating as the viscosity is far more even through the temp ranges. Mind on my minis that means they leak!

I don’t know whats in the handbook or what may of changed since but in the early 90’s when we tested the first KV6’s and others we used unipart red 10/40 and never had a failure attributed to the oil. Those engines were hammered in ways you can’t do on the road.
