Default diesel pump on rover 75 does not stop working

hi guys,my diesel pump (secondary) does not stop after i switch off the ignition key, and i am having to disconect the wires to stop it.when i connect it again after 2 hours it is fine and if i switch it off shortly afterwards will turn off .but if i drive short distance again it does not want to stop and i have to disconect it manualy. any help, thoughts would be greatly appreciated !(my rover is 2.0 ltr ,03 reg)
