Cool Any point keeping……….

…………………….. old and used alternators/starter motors/turbo’s? There are various other bits that are just sitting the garage collecting spiders and dust.

I don't bother any more Bob,you can never be sure of their condition.I think you asked about getting a spare turbo reconditioned some months ago,the cost is £200+ and DMGRS have brand new ones for £300.May as well just buy new in my opinion.

Sounds about right. Looks like a trip to the tip is on the cards.

Bob you may find that there is value in them for scrap.
I know electric motors can be weighed in for scrap value due to the copper windings, alternators are essentially the same, and fetch a better price per kg than simple low grade mixed scrap metal.

Mmm. In Ipswich there is an outfit that will test and repair car electric bit like starter motors, alternators etc. Havent taken a R75 bit to them but did an alternator off a Montego diesel that I was transplanting into a Series landrover. They declared it duff (alowed me to watch them put it on a test rig) but had a replacement and fitted the pulley etc on the new one. About £85 last year or so if my memory isnt too fuzzy.

I wouldn’t get rid as some places ask for an exchange unit like they do with callipers. Always worth while keeping.
