If its as good as it looks, its one of those cars that needs to be garaged and lifted off its wheels for 10 or more years so you can double your money. If Rover makes a comeback it could even make more??? Why use and ruin a great example?

Looks like an absolute stunner, however, I'm willing to bet that similar cars are available in garages up and down the land, just waiting to be discovered.

As with the Maestro/Montego before it, this was a favourite of people who bought a car to 'see them out' so to speak, drove it to the shops once a week and then stopped driving and left the car in their garage.

These cars are usually available for a lot less than the £2.9k asking price - the only difficulty is getting your hands on them before they get scrapped by disinterested family members.

Haha - I didn't mean *everyone* who bought the 45!

Don't tell anyone but I sold a 2001 Impression S to buy my 75. Loved driving the 45 though and it was the cheapest motoring ever. Bought it for £1200 4 years ago, put 70k miles on it and sold it for £700. Can't say fairer than that.

Mine is a td - purchased simply for running my son to school down winding country lanes - 44 miles each day. It's the more powerful 113 BHP model and great fun to drive with all that torque. Also, as you say, very economical. I have averaged 52MPG over 10k miles.

The car linked in the OP is just gorgeous. It would be a shame to do anything other than just enjoy driving it.
