Default engine kv6 spec

i was out and about on a NON public road...twas private track... playing with the car to see what it could do....its badged as a 190 but the top end i could only get bout 125mph looking at the parkers the engine seems to be the performance of a 160.

how do you tell the difference between engines by look or engine code (where ever it is) just want to make sure i have the right engine before i look at other things.

Have a read here

Your vin should have an 'F' if it is a 190

That seems Low for that car if it is the Indicated speed.
I get 135MPH on the CDTi.
Something doesn't quite sound right.

Hi Lee

Unfortunately the PDF does not seem to be an exhaustive list. There are a few threads running on the 'Other' MG forum dealing with these issues but to date no definitive information has been found.

Try searching both forums for 'Engine Number' and read through the threads.

There are a few ex MGR employees who may be able to help. Rincewind (a member on both forums) has been very helpful on queries of this nature. Try posting a thread for his attention or PM him direct.

Hope this helps

Dave

thanks dave, your a star....

searched other locasions as you sudjested and apparently...

"25K4FN45**** is also a 190 PS 2500cc V6 originally in a ZT saloon.
Plate oil cooler is fitted to bottom of engine by sump and is flat/square shape. Other type ( Calinova ) is cylindrical."

if this is correct....looks like theres a different prob as sudjested, will check in daylight to confirm.

regards

lee
