hi everyone, just bought a rover 75 tourer after a major engine failure on my mitsubishi shogun!!!! I'm very happy with the car and cant believe the level of trim and comfort you get for the money, but after reading through the threads on here there does seem to be a lot of things that go wrong. I'm paranoid now somethings gonna break and i'm not very mechanical so i'm expecting a few big bills.

Thumbs up

As above check plenums,
I've got two 75's a diesel tourer and a 1.8T both manuals
I've had the diesel nearly 2 1/2 years and apart from
consumables ie tyres and regular servicing it's been a great car it's now on 132000 miles
(hope thats not the kiss of death)
I've had the 1.8T 8 months it's on 92000 miles and again it's a great car, both passed the MOT with no advisories.

Most forums are usually about posts of pleas for help, not many
post about how happy they are with their cars.

Welcome to the club. These are a great car. I have a diesel tourer and its fantastic. They are as reliable as any other car which can break. You take a chance with anything. This is a great friendly forum and should help with any problems you have. So good luck with your new car and get some pics posted so we can all drool.

Hi Dadrock. Welcome to Rover ownership.

Re the work done on car. Try hard and get some sort of written proof about h/gasket/w/pump/cam belt. If you decide not to keep it, most buyers will try and knock £3-400 off price if no proof of work done, so well worth the effort.
You will also have the satisfaction yourself if you decide to keep it, which I hope you will. As I said, well worth effort to try & find out.

Good luck, and happy Rover ownership
