I'm over in Lowestoft, a 'local' meet would be great. Ranworth sounds like a good idea.

Well up for this although I can't do last 2 Saturdays of Sept or first 3 of October.

Cheeky request: Any T4 or other diagnostic suggestions for this area for intermittent airbag light diagnostics please. Tried under seats connector replacement so far.

Thanks

Hi Ren,

Based on my extensive research for specialists in our area, if you want a "working" T4 then the nearest outside of the main dealer network is

http://kellyclarkemotorserv.rtrk.co...._id=5715395971

Reckon could be relatively local to you too,

Mixed press based on what i can find out from internet etc, and i have not used them, but i would imagine plug and play and pay!

Regards

Mark

Thanks Mark. I did see them as a result of a look on the xpart site. I know nothing of their reputation though.

Assuming I'm digging this right & looking at this thread http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...bd+scan&page=7
& post 68 it looks like a straight OBD2 read should lots of specific airbag info as there are various codes relating air bag faults in there. So I might try an OBD scan more locally first or get a cheap OBD reader that could be used at Norfolk meets, especially as it takes quite a while to get there. They keep putting long stretches of 40 & 50 in places and it is often much quicker to get to places further away like Lowestoft especially if there agricultural / tourist traffic around.

Sorry for drifting off topic people. Looking forward to a meet.

I have used them and wouldn't again even though he the nearest one to me.
If you just want a T4 session though you should be ok but expect them to tell you about lots of work that needs doing.
If you find something wrong with the car afterwards that was ok before the response is you did it / caused it and close the door on the way out

One would hope that a short T4 session speciafically to sort an airbag fault would be relatively inexpensive. I would check on this forum though that any faults shown would be easily understood and allow you to progress. Guess the same applies if you get hold of a OBD reader.

Given airbag faults are relatively commonplace in the used car trade there might be some local expertise already out there, likewise would like to think most garages have the OBD tech in some shape of form.

Based on other posters views though might be worth looking elsewhere...

Hardly sounds like a friendly low cost T4 session with any forum trader i am so envious of, nearest circa 150 miles.

Quite frankly Mark, i think the situation is appalling. These friendly low cost forum traders should know how wonderful it is to live in Norfolk with it's friendly chilled out people, great scenery, low crime rate and loads else to offer. Surely they must really want to move here. It must be other factors keeping them away.

If I do need a "local" T4 I might see if Wrights of Lowestoft have still got there's. When the wife had a work lease 25 and we lived just outside Norwich we ended up taking it there for all work as Holdens were repeatedly so incompetent. Once we started using Wrights the extra time to go there was easily saved as we didn't have to keep going back for things not done right. Wrights were always excellent.

Dear all,

Just a quick update, re my car, currently off the road awaiting a mobile mechanic to visit from Derby!. Latest inconclusive diagnosis is HGF. A continuation of various painful threads i have posted in the technical section. Car has visited 2 local garages (through necessity) 3 times to investigate overheating. To say i am disappointed with local garages is a understatement.
Whilst now fully prepared for worst scenario and budgeting accordingly, i am hoping an expert diagnosis might indicate something lesser than HGF on a V6.
Interestingly worst scenario is that mobile man will replace belts, water pump, remove heads, skim heads overnight and drive down next day to refit all. He is a trader on mg-rover.org.
This work is taking place on my parents drive in Hingham on friday 21st Sept.
Till this is all sorted i feel i am tempting fate by organizing the Norwich meet at the minute. As soon as car reaches a positive conclusion i will apply myself to task, in the meantime lets try to keep the momentum going we have accumalated on this thread. Should anyone else want to carry things forward in the interim feel free. Happy to assist or take over the mantle again once car is sorted.
Would mention only reason i have not posted to tech section another painfull update is that diagnosis thus far is so inconclusive there is little to add.
Latest garage phoned me with muddled HGF diagnosis expecting me to tell them to scrap it!! Needless to say i am in for the long haul... There quote £1354.84!!
Thanks for reading my tale of woe... Once concluded will post to tech forum.

Regards to all,

Mark

Sad to read you are still having trouble Mark.

Dave (the mobile mechanic) has a very good reputation so I hope he will see you right at the minimum of expense. Glad you are in for the long haul, too many of the cars get scrapped for no good reason.

Also, the 21st is my birthday, so it can only turn out well!
