Default Almost switched to a Suzuki but stayed with my Rover

I was virtually offered almost for free a 2007 plate Suzuki Vitara with 68,000 on the clock and FSH, it seemed like a reasonable idea as my Rover at 115,000 miles and a 2004 is an older car with more miles
BUT after trying as hard as I could to like the Suzuki "truck" I just couldn't part with my Rover and I declined the offer, Suzuki felt crude, utilititarian, bumpy, expensive on tax, not great on fuel, not great at motorway speeds and had less room in the back than my tourer
Granted if I had needed to traverse a bog or drive through a field, the Suzuki would doubtless have performed well, but why are these 4WD vehicles so popular with people who don't need one?
The final nail in the coffin was that there was a fault with the air con which nobody on any of the Suzuki forums could help me with, that never happens here, so I am sticking with the mighty AV54OFE

I had an Vitara XL-7 for a while, inherited it after my father passed away. OK car but I didn't really get a chance to appreciate it, only had it a couple of months when I got torpedoed by a Freelander coming straight out of a side street. Suzuki was a write off

The earlier vitara’s were quite ‘rustic’ by today’s standards but an incedibly capable car. You should of asked about the a/c problem here

I didn't think of that, I tried 3 Suzuki forums and was getting nowhere, I could have lived with the A/C problem, I just didn't like the car enough to swap my Rover for it

Not Suzuki but I switched to a Honda Insight hybrid. Air con is cooler, heater is hotter, much more comfy - no longer get back ache, economical, quiet, nice ride. Ticked all my boxes easily. Sad to see the 75 go though...

2009 was one I bought, so not super modern. Only had 30k on the clock and was driven about 3k a year.

Did you ever have any battery/electric power problems? I have often considered the Hybrid Civic, but they don't have the battery longevity of the Prius (which is another possible "next car" for me.)

My Uncle has a Suzuki SX4, I had to drive it 150 miles a few months ago. It is sole less, there is zero pleasure in driving it. It is not fast, economical and it does not handle and personally I didn't find it that comfortable. The only thing it has going for it is that it is very reliable. Saying that it has a Lambda sensor problem which is quite common, the only fix is a pair of genuine sensors at nearly £500. Non genuine sensors will bring the light on very quickly, it is something to do with sensors going out of tolerance and non genuine wont be close enough.
