Default clicks and doesn't fire - Rover 1.8T auto connie

Hi guys,
I got the MG ZT going OK after the winter layoff, and now I am trying to get the Rover 1.8T connie going. Unfortunately we had to be away some weeks with bereavement, so returning the battery is flat. I thought to jump start using a good battery, but when I tried all it did was click and flash a red light inside and the indicators on the outside. Any thoughts? Last Rover 1.8 I owned I changed the battery, and had the original one go flat, and never had problems restarting. Any hints would be very gratefully received. Cheers Alex.

If the battery is really low a jumping from a battery won't be enough, jumping from a 2nd running car might. Try charging the battery for 24 hours minimum or swap for the good battery.
