The solenoids can be purchased new, I know DMGRS ON here has some but a quick check on his site should confirm if he has the one you need. Lee.

Fault codes pointed to short circuit for solenoid C which was replaced but car still went into limp mode. Not sure what to do next.

Back in 2001 when I had my first 75 V6 club auto ,I had a similar fault. EP would come on and the gearbox would bang and knock as if a drive shaft was collapsing. I'd switch off and restart and it would be fine then reoccur later. I had it recovered to the dealer under warranty and they said the fault was a poor earth in the n/s kick panel. From memory it was point C 32 ? if I remember from the mists of time !

I would recommend a resistance check on all the solenoids, this is carried out by disconnecting the 18 pin plug to the gearbox located on the passenger side wing IIRC.

Joe at Accurate Automatics in Melbourne Australia found that a loose connection leading to the automatic transmission was the cause of my ZT 180 running in limp mode intermittently. He had never worked on a MG ZT before but had worked on the transmission which is also found in some other cars.
