Hi Guys

Nice to see you are still doing the Nano meets, I really miss being there. However I do have some consolation...

I just got back from Ohio after going up to meet the rest of Sidney's family. One of her son's up there collects cars and we had the choice of driving them if we wished. See the attached photo.

From left to right...

Rolls Bentley, XJS Jag, Mercury Comet that had just been restored with a 350 engine (only did 7 miles to the gallon), BMW Soft Top (can't remember the model) Audi people mover, and of course our Cadillac CTS. (we did 3500 mile in it on this trip). next time we will fly up and choose a car for each day. What would be your choice?

The Jag was my favorite. We went in it for a game of golf and were late for the Tee off because people kept stopping us to ask about the car. Especially when they heard me English accent. <chuckle>

We also went to a car show in Canton, Over a 1000 spectacular cars, I am doing a slide show of just a few of them.

Keep those Nano meets going guys.

I miss my old girl the 75 and wish I could have shown it at this show.

See ya Edd And Sidney.

The food menu for the Saturday evening meal at the Four Ashes is now available on the Nano website via the top toolbar select " more " on the extreme right which reveals more pages including the menu page.

To order your food please then go back to the " next meet attendance " page select "comments", find your own comment and hit the reply buttton, just enter your name and your food order in the comments box.

This will enable us to get the order in advance and hand in to the pub on the Saturday morning of the meet.

As usual payment will be after the meal just go up to the bar and give your name and pay for your own

Thanks

Already tried that before we sold my 75 but he didn't take the hint...

Fuel.... Complain complain complain, the yanks do nothing but complain about fuel costs (Gas in their lingo, which seems appropriate) It went up to $3.59 us dollars per gallon a few weeks ago then dropped to $2.95 just as we went up to Ohio but is now rising again.

I keep telling them cheap cheap cheap but they don't listen until I tell them it costs about $11 dollars a gallon in the UK and they shut up with a gobsmacked look on their faces. Then I tell them about paying for parking everywhere you go and have to squeeze into small parking spots. All say why does anyone want to live there. I dunno?

The interesting thing is everyone in Ohio has an oil drill on their land for which they get oil royalties (including my new wife) mainly from the drilling company in the area. I saw at least a dozen new wells started while I was there. See the attached photo for a typical oil drill which I saw hundreds of them with storage tanks as we drove around.

Quote:
Drilling into the shale formation, which sit thousands of feet below the surface, is done through a method called "horizontal fracking." It consists of pumping millions of gallons of chemical-laced water and sand deep into horizontal wells under high pressure to crack open shale, enabling gas and oil extraction
(Google em). The new system drops a well down a few thousand feet and then the do a 90% turn and pump oil from dozens of miles horizontally around then turn and do it again from another angle and keep doing this. Almost everyone in the Canton and Mineral City areas are getting their fuel costs back but they still complain. They also get free gas as a by product and run their heating and cooking from it. No pleasing some folks hey.

Everything is Obama's fault apparently. Cant see him getting back in at the next election. Me? I couldn't care less. the sun is shinning and the temperature averages in the high 90'sF. I am as brown as a berry and never felt healthier. Which is good as medical costs are terrifying.

Have a good meet and I am dead envious.

Edd
