Default Only got one key for your car? this may be of interest to you

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4v8l75kP_w

On a further video he explains how to use a relay to fake a signal if you have no keys??????????
I've got both of mine so I wont be doing it but I thought it was interesting as a key loss can write your car off now with them being worth so little.

EDIT: seems I wasn't far off the mark. What you have to do is fit a universal remote to the centre console switch then it can be locked with the key transponder in.Try it yourself, drop your drivers window, turn your ignition off, then with the key in lock the doors with the central locking button on the centre console.Put your hand out the window and pull on the door handle. Your locked in

Here is a little test for you Shawn as you have two keys, place one key in the ignition of your car, don't turn it on or anything, just place it so the transponder is in range of the RF coil attached to the ignition barrel.

Now close the door take your second key and lock your car with the second key.

After doing that little exercise, why not come back and tell us all how you got on please

I'm sure you will be able to enlighten everyone as to why you found it impossible to lock your car

am I right in thinking that this has been discussed at few times before? button starts etc.

invalidated insurance springs to mind, unless declared it no longer has an operating factory fitted anti theft device. it will add more than a replacement key to the insurance premium.

considering our cars are getting on, and possibly have worn/failed steering locks and worn ignition barrels, I can't see doing this as a wise move. used to start an old car of mine with a penny.

but with some car values being less than the cost of the official replacement key why worry. then again, key insurance only adds 10 pounds per year to my insurance. hmmm

I had a fiesta and it only had one chip for the immobiliser but two keys. I glued the little chip to the inside of the steering column.
Saved me about £130 and the chap who bought he old knacker was non the wiser.

Also, do you know why your ignition gets so sloppy and worn???
it`s that great bundle of keys you have swinging about on the same key-chain
