Shower valves

OK totally unrelated to anything Rover/MG but if there's any plumbers on here that can enlighten me as to what a 3 way diverter is on a rigid riser shower with integrated rail kit (rigid shower head with a separate shower head on a hose) Google gives inconclusive definitions...

Well, when I worked for a bathroom company some years ago, it was as you'd expect.
A valve to divert the flow to the fixed head, the handset on flexi hose or both at the same time.
I dare say the supplier will confirm this for you.

Yea as I suspected but just doubtful after reading confusing definitions on Google...
