Default ZT Mk2 saloon rear window trim, black

Hi All

Rimmer Bros have full chrome set at £113+VAT or RH only in black. No where else seems to have 'em. Does anyone have a set for sale, or know where I can get one much better than my 15 year old one?

I have the clips and fasteners now, but don't want to do the leak-cxuring job until I have replacement trim, as mine is badly breaking up now. It's currently covered in black waterproof tape but it will only last so long....

Thanks,

Paul.

Default screen trim,,

Hi,, i got a second hand one off a rover 75, in chrome,,
i flatted it down with some 400 sand paper, and then
got a small rattle can in satin black from the car shop,,
sprayed it a couple of times,
cost me about £15,, all in job done,,

the chrome one is so easy to paint, as no flaking black plastic, coming off,

hope this helps,,

I know where you are coming from, mine is just the same and last time I looked Rimmers were out of stock of the chrome (SS) version for my Mk2 Contemporary SE - and their price is crazy but we either have to like it or lump it don't we.
Remember the 'rubber' edging is cosmetic and acts only as the finisher seating onto the rear screen glass, it has no technical (waterproofing) function so if you are happy to simply strip off the edgeing and either paint the whole thing black, put a narrow black painted edge around the bright trim or even, as one member described, mask off and spray on a rubbersied coating or 3 to bridge the trim and the glass it will do
- or maybe visit a local scrap yard.

Mine is peeling well too. I shall be glad when it has all come off - I prefer the chrome look anyway!
