Oil cooler removed, can I remove excess piping?
The previous owner decided he didn't want the oil cooler and replaced the pipe with a plastic piece that looks more in place under my kitchen sink. (Swapped one unreliable piece with another, good job).
Anyway seeing as the Oil cooler isn't there it seems pointless for the coolant to cross from one side to the other and back again. In theory couldn't I just have the coolant pipe from the bottom of the rad go up instead of across saving some pipework?

Also does anyone know the internal diameter of the pipe that connects to the bottom of the rad?

I believe all rad hoses are 32mm ID.

No reason why not to remove the bottom pipe it is doing nothing. Assuming the previous owner has kept the original rad size it will be 32mm but he may well have stepped it down. If you are going to be Towing I would recommend you fit a new cooler as when pulling a van things can get quite hot. Alan. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Supercharging! I don't think there is any "perhaps" about it.

To be fair planning on water injection too.
Do you know where the oil feed for the cooler is found on the engine?

Bottom offside front on the oil pump, in and out to the cooler.

Thanks Tom, I need to get in there and see what he's done with the oil holes, hopefully nothing permanent, it would seem mine is the early style oil cooler which seem to be hard to locate, I'll probably use an air to oil cooler instead of the standard setup.
