Default Knocking noise from rear. **SORTED**

I have a knocking noise which started this morning, sounds similar to a flat tyre, but the tyre is fine! Any ideas?

I take it you've done the usual checks (wheel bolts nice and tight, no stones etc in the tread) - next suspect would be something like a wheel bearing, or possibly a brake issue (stone stuck in caliper, worn pads etc).

The mounts at the top of the rear shocks are worth a very close inspection. If they start to fail they lead to knocks and bumos that often seem if they are coming from somewhere else.

Take off rubber cover on top of shock that is located behind carpet on top of wheel arch.

Put your finger on top and get someone else ( hard to do both! )
To bounce car up and down at that quarter. If you feel clunking or movement ..try that.

Check for loose items in the boot. Especially stray cats and dogs!

DMGRS was closest! After returning to the car this afternoon I noticed a huge great nail sticking out of the tyre! Changed the wheel and had the punctured fixed and all is well!
