Default Heads up on smoking!

This from Hx Courier:
Ban on smoking in cars carrying children comes into effect in England and Wales Drivers or passengers caught smoking under the ban will get a £50 fixed penalty
Motorists and passengers in England and Wales are being warned they will soon be breaking the law if they smoke in a vehicle carrying a person under 18.
From tomorrow, October 1, they face fixed penalty fines of £50 – with drivers at risk of being fined twice if they have failed to stop a passenger smoking and are smoking themselves.
It will be an offence for a person of any age to smoke in a private vehicle that is carrying someone who is under 18 for a driver (including a provisional driver) not to stop someone smoking in these circumstances. The rules don’t apply to e-cigarettes.
Enforcement officers (usually the police) will use their discretion to decide whether to issue a warning or a fixed penalty notice, or whether to refer an offence to court.
It will also be illegal for retailers to sell electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) or e-liquids to someone under 18 for adults to buy (or try to buy) tobacco products or e-cigarettes for someone under 18 to smoke in private vehicles that are carrying someone under 18.
*****************************************
That must mean a new driver at 17yrs can`t light up in their own car, even on there own.

There is a report in the paper today claiming that the Police are refusing to enforce the smoking in cars ban due to lack of resources.

Not that it matters to me now that I have finally managed to quit

Walk to school? Your having a laugh, especially the teenagers they are pampered from cradle to grave.

I am a smoker, my only vice but I never smoke if there is anyone else in the car. In general I never smoke if there are kids around, lot of others aren't so considerate.
