unless you delete something, nothing will happen. You wont be able to add anything to it.

No John, it's full & you'll have to get another one or delete some files 1TB & you've nearly filled it that's a lot

Alan's the expert John, I'll let him deal with it
In the meantime, when you plug in your hard drive, it should say open folder to view files, or similar, this opens the drive for you to see what's on it. Simply select the files you want to delete, then press delete. This should clear some space for you.

wouldnt say I am an expert lol. Far from it. What I would add though, is to make sure you empty the recycle bin to make sure the space is recovered.

I have figured how to delete things, but it's knowing which to delete. I have a lot of photo's, would I be better putting these on a dvd or memory stick?. Thanks, John.

John, save photo's, music files, video's etc the rest are just files used to run the system. Of course if you have any documents you need, save these too. Most of it is just operational stuff If you make a mistake, you can always go back, but save the pics, vids, music first

If you're using it with the Samsung auto-backup software then there are options for deleting old-backups and backups of information that have been deleted from the machine that's being backed up. If you are just using it as an external drive and manually copying files to it to free space on your PC then you'll have to decide what it is that you don't need anymore. Photos take up very little space as JPG - but a lot more as RAW files. Music is similar - even quality MP3s don't take a lot of space - but lossless files take more. Video is the biggest culprit for taking a lot of space.

Other documents vary but shouldn't be too bad.
If you've been taking whole backups of your PC then that's great for restoring - but check if there are old backups that you'd never need anymore and delete them.
