Probably nothing to do with your fault BUT check this anyway (see below)
You maybe finding out why the previous owner got rid ?!!
Did you buy from a dealer or private?

Radiator Cooling fans on early 75 ZT's only have a life of 50-80k miles. If ATC has been left on Auto the AC will have been running for 95% of it's life.

DIY TEST:
Start engine switch on AC by pressing front screen DEMIST. (2nd button in from the right)
Run round to front of car, cooling fan should run on a constant slow speed.....even with a cold engine.

First of all you need to identify which type cooling fan you have.
If your fan is original on a 2003 model, it's most likely to be the earlier 3 speed without resistor.

Whatever you need I have components to cover all eventualities !

Oh yes they are notorious !!

Replacing/upgrading and mail order supply of cooling fans is what I've been doing since 2005

It's the biggest design flaw of this marque above any other.
Well apart from HGF on the 1.8 !!!
But the cooling fan issue applies to all engine variants
1.8, KV6 2.0, KV6 2.5, CDT 2.0 and 260 V8

Fitting one as we speak
