Default Facelift grill badge

Hi, I bought one of the facelift grill badges from a guy on here to do away with the cheap flat metal one, went to fit it last night only to discover its to big to fit in the space. Is this correct? Thanks

Sounds like you have bought a v8 badge. They are bigger and if you cut the lugs off the back and glue it on it will look OK however they fade just as badly.

I fitted a new one about a year ago. Noticed yesterday it's deteriorating quite badly. Chunks of colour coming off and metal tarnished. It wasn't bought on here tho!! And it was very cheap... Away to look for another one.

You have the better badge even if it doesn't fit perfectly in the badge recess like the other one did
You basically have your old badge which is glued on to a plastic backing to give it more of a profile and it will look great when fitted
You don't have to cut off the lugs as they will help adhesion

Remove your old badge and there should already be an indentation in the recess which will take the bottom lug of your badge just drill it out them measure and drill a small hole for the top lug and you can them insert them both with some adhesive

You can also try and lacquer the badge before you apply it to prolong it a bit more

Look at the pictures in my old thread below

So was there actually a proper sized facelift domed badge made to fit the re-cess? Is there a part no if so? I only realised the size difference after I got the hairdryer out and removed the old one

Question Remove old badge

Sorry to but into the thread - but can any of you chaps advise how i replace my worn front enamel badge (have a new badge to fit) - is it just a hair dryer to loosen the fixative then prise it out with a screw driver - any tips welcome.

These were a limited edition from a member or former member (name escapes me) that I fitted on the way to a meet a few years back.
I like it and no fade
