Default Beware

For those who may have been curious, just unsure or (expensively, stupidly) unaware like me take note that Rover 75 front struts do not fit on ZT's!

I needed such and assumed that they were interchangeable between 75's and ZT's...thus, I spent today (with the kind help of Rich NW RS) 'liberating' said items from a diesel 75! Upon (excited) delivery to my Mechanic - that is not as decadent as it sounds - I was quickly informed that they were not!

Thus, I now need to source the correct items...and will shortly have 2 struts, springs, hubs, discs, pads and calipers for offer!

This has been a disappointing, frustrating day...although Rich's company (and patience) as he suffered my clumsy 'mechanics' was great fun. Rich, I am but a Lotto win away buddy! ;-)

These were at least an inch and half too long! These were 75 struts to a ZT...forgive my ignorance, is this a factor?

Were they of different length when fully built up? The ZT sits lower than the 75 due to different springs.

The Zt ride is lower but why would you want a ZT to handle like a boat>??

It was immediate need and cost that precipated my (ultimate) folly! Wanted my motor back up and running ASAP - act in haste, repent at leisure! :-(

In all fairness to the mechanic, it was very dark and he was attempting to offer the 'new' strut\spring with the hub assembly still attached to the drive shaft etc. when in situ (i.e. mounted in the inner wing) he could not see a way of dropping the t body into the hub flange as it was some 1.5" longer! is there a way this can be done?

Will speak to him again in the 'morrow! Although there must be a difference between 75 and ZT struts...those off the 75 are at least 1.5" longer!(?)
