Bonnet stuck
Hi, can anyone assist. Bonnet release has broken and I have tried pulling the cables via the wheel arch without success. Is it possible to remove the front grill and release the bonnet that way?

Best to see if one of the pegs have released. Happened with mine, the driver's side had released, but the passenger side cable had corroded and pulled through at the latch end. I had to cut the peg off, thanks to Suffolk Boy on here sending me one for a good price. A decent 2nd hand set of bonnet cable was also needed.
I did not entertain smashing the grille as it is a chrome one, someone else might advise on that, but it is easy enough to wedge the bonnet up and cut the peg if one of them have already released to give you a bit of play. Sent from my Redmi 4A using Tapatalk |

Unfortunately the bonnet is closed fast. I think I will have to try the local garage to see if the can do anything.

Removing the grill will not give you access and will only cause unnecessary damage.
Have someone push down on the bonnet as you pull the cables from the wheel arch. If that fails you will need to cut the pins from under the front edge of the bonnet. Protect the bonnet with something thin before you start cutting. |

Slow down.
You can do this job without damaging a thing. Just takes some patience. Are both catches stuck or just one? When this happened to me it was just one. I tried the old wheel arch liner and junction box, but as the cable had rusted and snapped at the actual catch, the cable just pulled out of the sleeve. Dont rush into it. Let me know if its jsut one. If it is, I can help. Chris. |

You jsut put some protective tape on the edge of your bonnet and put the spanner in though the gap. Takes some time as you cant turn it much, but you just unbolt it. |

I did, because I found it easier. The gap was extremely small and too much of a fiddle to get the 10mm spanner in.
Maybe you have small hands and more patience than me. Sent from my Redmi 4A using Tapatalk |

Bonnet stuck
You need the grille off and an ‘S’ shaped 10mm spanner to access the bolts holding the pin.

Yep, break it! there are two plastic rivets holding it in at the top.
Sometimes the rivets pop out, most of the time the lugs on the grille break unfortunately (At least they are cheap to replace)
