'Hazing' to walnut dash
Hi, Has anyone seen this/no what it is/if it's treatable?
The 'end' pieces of my walnut dash trim have a hazy/foggy thing going on. It appears worse in certain light. Couple of pictures below (the second is delib. out of focus as it shows the issue a bit clearer!) Any advice welcome. Cheers, ceb |

I'm no expert but it looks like a lacquer problem. You'll find specialists at The Classic Motor Show (NEC, 13th. & 14th. Nov.) who will know and, no doubt, be able to restore the original finish for you.
Simon.

Yeah that's what I'm assuming, but didn't know it if it's maybe 'fixable' with silver polish/barkeepers friend etc NEC! - blimey didn't you know that us southern softies get a nose bleed above Watford Gap To be honest, cost of the fare/petrol to NEC it's probably cheaper to get a replacement from fleebay/scrappy. a small amount of brasso on the effected areas and buff up to shine.
without looking at the pieces i presume this is a surface imperfection, but could it be under the laquer on the surface of the wood where the seal has broken down on the edge. |

Clouding like that can be caused by using silicone based polishes on the wood. Try getting hold of "Wood Silk" silicone-free polish with beeswax. Available in Morrisons for about £3.
Brings the real walnut dash up a treat. Also good for dining room tables

I got a real wood dash for £10 from scrappers so a new one is a cheap option
