Default dashboard lights

I have noticed that even when I remove the key on my 75 con the lights stay on illuminating the mileage, trip, outside temp and gear indicator, whats wrong?. Checking the handbook it appears to say that i can light up the trip for 30 seconds even with the key removed by pressing the trip reset is it this? also checking the handbook gives various fuses for the instruments does someone know what fuse it is, I have the idea that removing and replacing it might reset it. I have been warned about leaves blocking the drain holes and flooding the ecu so will be checking that as well but a quick inspection by torchlight shows no problem.
Further to the leaf problem has anybody tried putting smaller mesh on the inlet covers, i was thinking either ali mesh or even old tights. Has anyone tried or got any thoughts on this.
Thanks in advance

This problem has arrisen in the past...you could tray a battery disconnection for 20 minutes (sat nav / radio codes observed) and see if that cures it....failing that, have a search through the various threads on the subject

Fraser Mitchell has done a mod to stop leaves getting into the plenum area, he will probably post if he sees this although title is relating to dash lights, so maybe you need to start a new thread

Depends on the head unit, try the handbook, it's sometimes on a card or scribbled on the radio page.

A lot of the times it's not enabled.

This is my understanding based on recent experience, but don't blame me if it doesn't work

Turn your radio off. Turn it back on again. If it briefly says "Code Enabled" then you need a code. If it doesn't, the code feature has been disabled. Thats true on my Harmony at least.

Thanks for all the help I have found the radio code and presume this covers the sat nav as well, but rather than disconnecting the radio I went thro the fuses in turn until I got the right one. Pulled it left it out for a couple of mins and hey presto fault fixed, if anyone is interested the fuse is no. 27. Will try to find the thread on the plenum chamber but will prob get side tracked, this site is worse than google for getting led astray

The Hi Line Sat Nav systems do not have or require a Radio Code just to save anyone looking for them.
But do observe shut down procedures when disconnecting battery.
