My petrol IKP in my ZTCDTI reads exactly as it did with the original diesel dials.

Tickover at 600-700 and revs to 5 k or so. its just theres another 3000 unreachable rpm on the dial. .

Yes that's the way it works. The IPK matches the revs. Most people who put the Diesel IPK in a Petrol will want to get rid of the wrong fuel gauge but you cannot swap the dials over just the petrol one.

It's not a problem with using a petrol dial in a oil burner as we don't need constant reminding of what fuel to use so it has no writing.

Sorry to be pain but I don't know if this is just a typo Steve but you can change the dials over on the IPK's. See here for a how-to: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=10542

Apologies if I've misread or misquoted you (I haven't re-read the rest of the thread)

Yes I know about that. It's just the IPK that wants to rev to 6k will always want to rev to 6k no matter what engine it is connected to so putting a diesel dial into a petrol IPK will make no sense as the revs will not match the dial.

So if you have a diesel IPK in a petrol car like I have the rev needle when at 5 o'clock is specifying 6k and not the 8k it would be on a petrol IPK no matter what the overlay states. For those that go higher the needle will stop at 6 o'clock and stay there until the revs are below 6k again.

The only reason to swap the dials is to taqke the cutout from a message center IPK or swap the MP dials over to a Rover one etc..
Not swapping between Diesel and Petrol.

If you see what I mean?
