Default Halfords Digital Tyre Inflator

Hi Folks, I have just bought a Halfords Digital Tyre Inflator as following recent heart trouble I found using my old manual pump a bit of a struggle.
The problem I have with it is that it seems to give wildly different pressure readings from day to day. I pumped up the tyres on my 75 Diesel to 32psi front and 30 psi on Wednesday and rechecked them today to find they have apparently jumped to 35psi on the front and gone down to 26psi and 28psi on the back. Both readings were taken from cold.
Has anyone else got one of these gadgets and if so have they had similar problems? If they really are as inaccurate as mine surely they constitute a safety hazard and should not be sold by a major chain like Halfords. Should I take it back and complain?

I inherited my father's one and it's got a mind of it's own! Digital reading tends to be consistently about 8psi over, I always double check with a dial type pressure gauge. I run 35 in the front, 32 in the rear, set the inflator for 43 and 40 and it's spot on!

For an accurate reading always check and adjust pressure from cold. If you've inflated a tyre to say 32 psi then travel 10 miles it'll read around 35 psi due to the tyres getting warm and the air expanding.
I have a 12volt challenge extreme one from argos and thats spot on. I've also had one of the yellow jobbies from halfords but that was WAYYYYYYY out so let the ex-wife have it

It's not just a question of cold tyres as in un run, but also a difference in weather temperature, check on a cold Sunday and again on a hot Monday, there will be a difference.
