CDTI engine control unit

Hi
I have only just bought my 53 plate CDTI and only just signed up here, does anybody know who makes the engine control unit for this model. (sorry I have not looked for it yet either!)

Welcome to the club.
Sorry don't know manufacturer but you will find the ECU in the passenger side plenum. You should check the lower plenum drains as a matter of course anyway as they get blocked with leaves and other debris. Details here:-

I hope so, the fact that it is made by Bosch is good, being called DDE4 is even better. If anyone knows the pin configuration of the OBD socket (particulary 2 pins called txd and rxd) I may be able to get quite close, quickly.

Just get yourself a kwp2000 programmer then you can read and write to it as often as you like, Well within reason as they can only be flashed 13 times

Then you need to use something like Swiftec to find the areas in the map that you want to change or replace with BMW data which is highly unlikely to work out of the box so you will to know what to tweak

Basically a lot of effort imho for little real gain

Get a Synergy much easier!
