Forget what I've typed.....it's probably got the same filter as the MGR one.

The other end of the pipe is probably high level in the engine bay.

Having worked with the intercooler on my MX-5 quite a lot I can reliably say that having cold air going into the turbo makes little or no difference to the actually temperature post intercooler.
Remember the air gets rather warm before it exits the turbo due to being compressed so a drop of a couple of degrees makes practically no difference at all in the real world.
If I remember rightly I measured a drop of about half a degree C when I did my cold air intake testing compared to almost 7 degrees C drop I was seeing at the intake.

For what it's worth Eammon, I'm convinced those convolutions impede air-flow

Well, I did the chop job today:

The intake looks OEM once refitted.

I'm going for a long drive tomorrow, so I will have a good idea tomorrow evening if it make a difference.

Presumably that'll help a bit in helping the engine breath better!

Hope it doesn't let the bit of air you've managed to persuade to go through the OE opening to escape into the engine bay........................

The induction should probably compensate for that. It will just suck more air in I'd imagine? Just like on a vacuum cleaner where you can open a vent on the handle or thereabouts. Or so Mrs G tells me.

Colin, ask Mrs G, isn't that to REDUCE suction, for use on curtains and the like? Sort of endorses my point, maybe?
