X499MFL 2.5V6 Auto

Hi.
I've now had MFL for nearly three weeks. What a difference to the disasterous 1.8 Auto I had for a few weeks last year. Of course the car has some issues but hay ho what 15 year old car doesn't?
I'm fotunate that I have a 2.5 ZT that could well be be a donor car for some spares. Sadly the ZT was going to need some more work and cash to repair, it though is ok in all the departments that MFL needs.
Once I've used what I need from the ZT I'll sell off any other parts to members to help keep their cars running.

I will try to keep the thread updated on MFL's progress.

Incidentally to those that hesitate on the V6 auto its not that fuel hungry if you don't use all that power that's on tap, so far I've not dropped below 31mpg.

That's more than I get with my 1.8 na, more the reason why I looked at the car when advertised and much smoother note than the K series.

I think on the 1.8 nasp it would be working hard to pull the 75's weight, the V6 is twiddling its thumbs in comparison. The snag is that you need to think rather than boot it in the V6 as its quick.

Hi.
I’ve been working on the car most of the day.
I’ve swapped some parts off the ZT, namely front discs and pads wheels, back box and I've modified the bumper.
I've also done some rust proofing. Next is to change the downpipe and cat, then change the ATF.

Oh, now that is looking the business. Looks a bit less the pussy and far more the wolf. I like it. Wish I hadn't bothered getting those rear tyres changed but I do like those wheels on her. Doing a great job there Trevor. Watching with great interest.
Just added a photo of how she was when collected from the farm car park and the engine compartment before I did the belts. In case you want them.

Yes she does look good, if a bit high at the front. The old back box must have been a copy as it was so light in comparison to the ZT.
Boy am I suffering from the work today, those knees are giving me gyp

Steady on there Trevor. Just because you don't need that left knee so much now is no reason to go overboard. She is looking good though. Brought a smile to my face.

Hi Nige.
You certainly cleaned under the bonnet well, I've since pressure washed it and gave it a wipe with engine cleaner.
I will be doing the thermostat the keyhole way and while in there will swap over air boxes and fit a shannon tube
Here is the under bonnet view now and the front interior.

She does indeed, she runs at about 70-80c dependant on load and speed, there's also an antifreeze smell so there could be a bit of a seepage into the "V". Not a problem as te ZT will donate the parts
