Default Failed bottom steel pipes

Had a little coolant loss lately, and was afraid it was the water pump (140k original pump). Tonight had a chance to look underneath it, the valley was dry, no sign of antifreeze around the pulley end, but sure enough, the bottom pipes feeding the oil cooler were leaking.
Now what to do? Well I ordered a set including hoses from Rimmers, to be delivered this weds. In the meantime I made up a u bend in 22mm copper by heating and bending, soldered a swage on the end and bypassed the cooler.
On my to do list since I've had the car is to flush the plate type oil cooler, since i get little or no water flow up to the header tank. Sure enough, with the new bypass in placethe two little squirts are working well.
So a little unscheduled, but this week I'm on the road all week, and risking a meltown isn't on my list of favourite pastimes.

170 miles today and the best heater I've ever had in it - proves the theory that a semi blocked heat exchanger causes other issues. Any one have tips for unclogging it?

I went to look at some newer cars at a local garage, to see what's about. I looked at Suzuki Vitaras (too big) Honda CRVs (also too big) Dacia Duster (err no!) Nissan Qashqai (can't spell it! ?)Ford C Max (Fiesta on steroids) but ........................... no! Drove the Rover up the coast road and back home, with a huuuuuuge smile on my face! My knees and hips may be getting a bit arthritic but I will take the paracetomol to help me get myself in and out of the 75 and not into anything else thank you!

Removed the broken cabled window regulator and fitted a used replacement. I have, for the moment, a window that no longer wants to sit in the bottom of the door!

Carefully refitted all four door cards, with the addition of some anti rattle devices for the door sill buttons

Still haven't plucked up the courage to sort out the front bumper yet

Fitted a E-Zee Digital Temperature Gauge to my 75.

just curious as to what the temp really is. Turned out to run at about 80 to 81 C

takes a while to get up to that temp as well.

Cars temp gauge is actually rubbish, gets up to 9 and stays there but that's about all it shows lol
