Now that's Fast, under Windows 10 Compaq laptop was no faster than 8.1 despite the hype that said was better.

Had a few minor problems like sound disappeared from News stories, and some Flash items stopped a few seconds in. Checked control panel devices and all looked and said were OK with latest drivers etc.

Then for first time tried the HP Support Assistant that came with the computer, it made a few changes with result that sound was restored and all Flash played as intended.

Now just timed from a cold start, laptop up and running with 17 program icons on the task bar and ready to use in just 32 seconds.

I installed my new Lenovo pc with Windows 8.1 last week, as soon as I turned it on I was offered the download option after three and a half hours Windows 10 was in. I have found it very easy to use, I'm glad I didn't have to use Windows 8.1. All in all, Thanks. John. I am very happy with it.

From experience, every update no matter how minor, can be reported in Windows Update as a failed Win10 set up (mine about 15 IIRC) eventually you WILL be told by Windows that Windows 10 is downloaded and ready to install (as they promise in fact) and once you have that, the installation will take place, seamlessly, leaving your laptop looking and operating much s before, with no help from you.

Be patient, it's worth it in the end.

They are saying many businesses are going to wait 6 months to a year or longer to upgrade. I would have have thought any sensible business would do that for any new OS.

I went back to Win7 and removed the tiny update that installed the Win10 icon in the taskbar. So now I just don't even have to be bugged with the Win10 notice.
Win win (pun intended )
