Default Installing standard headunit and help with wiring.

In my car I have the basic cassette headunit ( Symphony I think ). The standard ISO harness is there on the loom but the one from the back of the radio had been butchered.

As you can see I have managed to get the wiring in place for now, However I have some wires / blocks left over.

Could some one help me work out what the black block and the green block are in the picture above please. Also how do I get the steering controls to control the stereo?

This is the block for the CD changer....

Which I have connected however there are 3 wires left over ( 1. pink/white 2. red/white 3. Black ) where would they go please. I have got the cd player to power on but can select to use it from the head unit.

Sorry for all the questions at the moment I/m just wanting to sort out the little issues I have.

If you have the box with the diode lead, the original unit would have been a Kenwood, two of the cables to that box, Blue/Purple and Black are for the steering wheel controls and for the Symphony, need to go into pins 2 (Black) & 3 (Blue/Purple) of the grey power ISO connector.

I'm afraid I don't recognise the connector in your second post.

That's the plug that would connect into the back of a head unit, either a Kenwood or an aftermarket unit. The other end of that plug should have the two iso connectors that plug into the car loom.
This lead you remove as it is only relevant to the unit it came from
Of course this is presuming that the original car wiring hasn't been modified!

Those are the cables, the switching is on the Earth side of the circuit.

This is getting confusing the diode box has three wires coming from it. One is Blue and one is white / green and one is black. These disappear into the loom behind the dash apart from one ( the green/white ) that has been spliced into the " kenwood " plug. I can't find where the blue and black wires go to.

I have found the blue/purple and the blue /orange coming from the head unit but finding where to connect them to has me totally stumped.

This is the mess of wires I am having to deal with

Ill try and take some better pictures tomorrow....for now its time to load planetside 2 and vent my frustration out on my enemies

Trace the car loom back down behind the heater unit/ashtray unit and see if you can find the 17 pin BMW connector, and unplug the wiring that has been 'modified', and replace it with a BMW to ISO adapter lead as in the earlier post about changing a Harmony to a Symphony, including the steering wheel controls.
