Default Tank Strap

It appears that the scraping noise that started on my way to work today is related to the drivers side of the tank strap giving up and the tank grounding out occasionally. I’ve ordered a new strap this morning and the car will be ok in the car park for a couple of days but I need to get it home, which is about 40 miles away, to fit the strap. Anybody managed to temporally secure the tank in such circumstances, if so, what did you secure the temporary strap / rope to?
